Can a Studebaker V8 be revved up to 7700 rpm?
    Yes,and it sounds so good.
    Thats all I'm saying.

Why not?, short stroke , perfectly balanced, solid lifters, only issue I see is point bounce < 5000 rpm. an I assume this is unloaded (engine stand vs. dyno load).

I've found the limiting factor to be valve float.

Not sure about 7700 but we are planning on 7000 at Bonneville with our 259. MSD ignition, Mallory Distributor, Novi 2000 Blower and 16 psi boost, custom intake, Ted Harbit valve springs. and short block by SRE. Hope to find time to post soon.

The Salt 2 Salt car relies on high revs to get into the torque range for its 182 CID.

Salt-to-salt engine went 7300 on the dyno this week. And survived.

I was at the dyno session. It hit the 7700 rpm number twice, both times it "flashed" to that number for a split second,
Greg Meyers post on Racing Studebakers explains it.He writes 7600 but I saw 7700.
