GT Hawk and Avanti equipment/options/combinations question

    My 63 GT Six has a 3-sp T96 without OD.

      Christophe, putting in an overdrive will make that GT 6 a much nicer car in several ways, better mileage, better acceleration, and quieter on the highway.

        My uncle bought a '62 Hawk in 1965 that was equipped with the T10. He had always driven Studebakers with 3sp/OD and really did not like having to rev the engine to get it going in first gear with the T10. He yanked it out and put in a 3sp/OD (found a floor shifter so it still has the 4sp column) - and the car's gas mileage went from about 17 to 25 mpg... As a kid I can remember calling this car the "Zebra Hawk" - he had the original seat insert (all black interior) redone with alternating black and white vinyl.

          I'd like to do it Jim.
          But, if it is not a problem to find a T96 with OD in the States, it is not the same tune in France.
          Besides, as my rear axle is a 3.73, it seems I'd need also to change it to a 4.56 to make the car perform properly.
          Though, I still have the idea in mind so, one day, maybe...

                It WAS, but the request was made for Build slips, and there are none for Avantis or Jet Thrust Hawks, since none came with Overdrive.

                So it has to be about the Standard GT Hawks with Overdrive!

                    My Ford pickup came from the factory with Overdrive, too. It's an unrestored survivor that has never been drag raced.
