  • Gas prices for those planning their Route

Just wanted to relay to anyone planning their gas stops along their route through Kansas City then onward South.......

Gasoline for the past 2 weeks has been 10-16 cents a gallon cheaper in Harrisonville MO.
In the neighboring suburbs along 71 Highway i.e. Grandview, Belton, Raymore, Peculiar, our prices have been $3.56-$3.59 so $3.40 (as of 6-10-11) Seems to be a deal.

So if your looking for a fuel stop before going on to Springfield and can squeeze a few miles per gallon in order to get to the first Harrisonville exit (there's 3) It may be worth it too you to stop.

Probably not QT at that price Frank......BTW ...which way are you planning to come south from Omaha??? Heard on the news today that I-29 is closed south of Omaha aready near Hamburg Ia from the Mighty Mo flooding. The crest is expected to reach KC about Saturday when you're coming thru and there is talk about mucho more of I-29 being closed by then due to the flooding, Maybe as much as 200 miles closed because of it.

On the local news here Al they only talk about the flooding in our immediate vicinity. I-29 closed last night from the I-680-I-29 split at North Omaha, close to where I am, North to just south of Missouri Valley, Iowa where I-680 turns to the east to meet up again with I-80. I know Hamburg has been starting to flood and has for the most part been evacuated but had not heard that I-29 was closed south of Council Bluffs. Guess i better check in at the Iowa DOT next week. Alternative routes are US 59 to US 71 into KC. That is the way we used to go to KC before the interstate. As I am typing this they announced that the median is flooding on I-29 coming north out of Council Bluffs, so its just a matter of time and it will close.Flood gates are up around downtown to protect all the venues down there, the College World Series will be there soon. SDC members coming from north of Nebraska heed the warnings, you may face large detours! Fuel is averaging $3.59.9 here in Omaha, a little cheaper in Iowa most of the time, less tax there. Crest is expected to hit here on Tuesday. The Army Core of (mismanagement) as some are starting to call it says this rate of flooding could persist through September.

          Stay on high ground,

Warren Oil Distribution told us they were removing their computers today for the eventual rise
of the river. (right next to Ameristar)

Yes Kevin the area around the Co. Bluffs Casinos is flooding now. Towing our parts trailer I can get way south of KC but will stop around Harrisonville as that will be one of the last areas to get competitively priced fuel until Springfield.

I-29 is now closed at the US 2 exit at Nebraska City to the US 136 exit at Rockport, MO. due to the Missouri river flooding over the roadway. Be aware if you are coming through this area bound for Springfield. Recommended detour is I-35 south out of Des Moines. It is not advised to use US 75 in Nebraska because of congestion due to construction and heavy traffic. Our plan is to use US 59 in Iowa south from east of Council Bluffs to I-29 at Craig, MO. unless additional flooding closes I-29 south of Rockport.

We are at the hotel in Springfield now and saw as low as $3.33 up to $3.43. We stopped at the Harrisonville,Mo., exit one, on US 71 and paid $3.38 then saw it later cheaper. Experienced horrible delays on I-435 around the I-70 interchange close to Independence, Mo. It narrows down to one lane for construction. Lost at least 20 minutes sitting in traffic there. About a dozen or so Studes here allready.
