    The 66 Cruiser I just sold has an original day/night mirror. I will be sorry to see it go. If I had been thinking I would have made the deal so that I could keep the mirror for the next Lark type I have.

      Subaru Hill Holder. My 05 Legacy (5 spd) does not have it, the option was discontinued after 04. I've yet to inquire if it could be adapted, Subaru drivers are frugal, too.

        Subaru Hill Holder. My 05 Legacy (5 spd) does not have it, the option was discontinued after 04. I've yet to inquire if it could be adapted, Subaru drivers are frugal, too.

          I have an early day/night on my '64 CDR, It is kojger that the stock one and interfers with the sun visors, but you can work your way around that.

          A friend in the UK who spends a lot of time in the US got a Subaru one from a US junkyard and had his mechanic at home install it in his Avanti.
          He didn't have details and I didn't check out the instalation, but it obviously be done.

          He's happy.

                  FWIW, the day/night mirror is listed in the '63 Lark/Cruiser accessories brochure.

                  My daily driver 2005 Subaru Forester XT could be had with a Hill Holder; however, mine has an automatic and hence the Hill Holder is absent.

                          Yes, from at least 1947 on. I have two 1947's and there was one for the 57 and up Hawk series. I picked one of them up in Reedsville a few years back. The late 50's works like those of the 70's and 80's, but the Post War were a very tricky mechanical device. The housing had a spring wire band across the back of the mirror and a pivot spring. To go from day to night, you physically moved the mirror within the housing.

                          Why do I have two? One I attempted to clean and the parts flew all over.

                              Was the AC-2355 mirror ribbed (fluted ), or just have small ridges on back ? Was it a Guide mirror ? Was "Guide" stamped on the flip tab ? Does anyone have any real photos or some close ups, better than the ones in Bridges book ? Anyone have one for sale ?

                                A few years ago I looked at remaking the day/night mirrors for the late model cars. I found that they were only offered on the Larks and were not offered on the Hawks. The stem is much longer on the Hawk models although the Lark day/night mirror will fit on a Hawk. I decided not to make them because of the limited sales potential and high tooling costs.
