R2+Cam

I am thinkig about puting a R2+Cam in my 63R2 Avanti if some has one in there engine
can you tell me if you like it or not, the cam in there now is almost a R3 288 cam& i have to
use a vaccumpump for the brakes to stop.Thank you for any help on this.

Basically, it is the Iskenderian ST5 268 degree grind. Isky still offers it direct for a reasonable price. Much more streetable than your 288.

How do you go about ordering one of these cams from Isky? I don't see any listing in their catalog.

Iskenderian cams will need a good core to grind as they don't have any blanks for Studebaker V8 engines. Isky's factory is about 20 minutes from my house so I always take them a couple of used cams just in case one isn't useable. I have an ST5 cam in my Avanti and it works really well on the street. They no longer list Studebaker cams in their catalogue, but they will grind one for you if you ask them for it. Bud
