The owner's name is Tony and took us out back. At that time, the Service Dept. was largely unchanged. There were six or seven overhead doors in the back--the Service Dept. was wider than the showroom part of the building--with one overhead door being tall for big trucks. One door, one service bay, for each vehicle. There was a sliding glass window leading from the old Parts Dept. to the shop, where parts requested could be passed through. The metal covers for the lifts were still in the floor, which made me think the lifts probably were too.

I've posted this link before, but here are five, vivid color photos of the one 1956 Packard Caribbean convertible they delivered new in June '56, from the excellent "Packard Info" website. In the background is a '39 (I think) Commander coupe, which was Carl Jr.'s wife Mimi's runabout car:
Besides the Caribbean, they delivered a '63 and a '64 Daytona convertible, and one of the two complete Super package '64 R2 Cruisers built...a black car with red cloth buckets and Powershift. Of course, they also delivered my Strato Blue '64 Daytona Hardtop..one of two new '64 Daytona Hardtops sold there, and the latter one...which I've recently sold.Last edited by Bill Pressler; 04-29-2011, 09:21 AM.Bill Pressler
