I got the rear seats recovered today. Just in time for the first local cruise-in tonite. There were some spectacular cars at the BBQ joint tonite; 2-'63 Vettes (one with original owner, a wonderful 70 year old lady), '63 SS Impala with 409, 69 Mach I with 428 Cobra Jet, '69 Mustang with 390, 1950's Pontiac Starchief, '57 T-Bird, 60's Buick Convertible, and many super-modified old cars and trucks. But just one lonely Studebaker, my Avanti. And I believe it drew more attention than anything else. Most everyone, except a few knowledgeable older folks, had no clue about Studes, let alone Avanti's. Many were gawking and amazed at the fibreglass body, the super-charger, the disc brakes, etc. It was really alot of fun. Now on to the Charlotte Auto Fair on Saturday!
Oh yeah. The "Ghostrider" never disappoints. Tonite the rear lights kept coming on spontaneously. I finally just cut on the park lights cause every 5 mins someone was tracking me down to tell me the rear lights had come back on again. I just explained to folks that the car has been haunted ever since I got it. Whether it's grunting, or releasing ectoplasm, or blinking a light. I'm thinking of calling the "Ghost Hunters" on Sci-Fi Channel to come check it out.
