what is causing the automatic trans. in my 1960 hawk to making a buzzing noise when it is in neutral or park at low idle RL

  • #2
    1. Low Fluid

    2. Incorrect throttle pressure adjustment.

    3. Sagging Rear Engine Mounts causing number 2. above, or missisng 1/2 inch spacer under the Left Rear Engine Mount.

The buzz can be caused by two things. The auto fluid has become too low because of a possible leak or the pressure setting is too high. The buzz originates from one of the two valves in the pressure regulator valve assy, the converter pressure regulator oscillating but does not cause any harm. It is normally more evident in Park or Reverse position. Check the oil level first when warm & in Drive with handbrake hard on & at idle.
