  • 2011 Pacific Can Am Zone Meet

Dear Friends and Fellow Studebaker Drivers Club Members,
With a great deal of enthusiasm, we are pleased to announce that the B.C. Coastal Chapter Members of the SDC are hosting the Pacific Can-Am Zone Meet this year, August 26-27, 2011.
We viewed many hotels for a desirable venue to host our event. After much and careful consideration, we decided on The Inn At The Quay in New Westminster, B.C., a luxurious hotel on the banks of the Fraser River. Check it out on the internet: www. Innatwestminsterquay.com
You might even want to come earlier and stay after the meet at this intimate hotel.
New Westminster is a historic city that is only about 10 or so miles East of Vancouver. It is the oldest city in western Canada, with a long and rich history. In 1859, the Royal Engineers arrived from England to establish the first capital of the new colony of British Columbia. The chosen site was selected both for its beauty and strategic location on the Fraser River. On July 20, 1859, Governor James Douglas proclaimed that the new city would be officially named New Westminster a name chosen by Queen Victoria herself. This naming by Her Royal Highness, gave residents, both then and now, the honour of referring to their home as the Royal City.
The Avanti Owners Association and the Antique Studebaker Club Members are invited to participate at the meet. There will be an excellent showing of cars and many new friends for you to meet. It is going to be a fun event, one that we hope you will plan to attend. Mark your calendar.
We are looking forward to seeing you. For more information, please contact Mark Carson markcarson007@hotmail.com Phone 604-939-0556 or Pete Yuen at tuumest@shaw.ca Phone 604-327-3143. For updates go to www.studebaker.ca
    Best regards,
    Pete Yuen,
Publicity Director for SDC BC Coastal Chapter

I'd like to make the trek... but not enough time or cash... besides I was in BC a couple months ago. The hotel setup looks really great. All who go, ENJOY and greet Mark for me.

For a show that is happening in less then a week~
I sure haven't been hearing too much about it--
how is it looking for you guys?

Is it on track to be as BIG as ours was last year?
Have you gotten alot of registrations so far? Vendors?

I won't be going as there is way too much else happening here,
but I wish you the best of luck and good weather for the show.

And for you folks heading North up Interstate FIVE-
wave as you pass the Grandview Road exit sign north of Ferndale-
      I'll wave back!!!

We are leaving from the central Washington area tomorrow. Was going in the Golden Hawk but as I backed it out of the garage to clean it, reverse seemed to have gone out. No problem, taking the '62 GT Hawk instead. We will wave as we pass the Grandview Road exit sign. Watch for a White Avanti, a black Avanti and a black and silver '62. Maybe more.

I almost forgot about the zone meet,I may be busy this weekend but I may just take a look on Saturday. That border crossing gets hectic but I can always just turn around, they really hate that.

I'm about 99.9% sure that Gary was indeed at last year's Zone Meet in Bellingham.
His '61 is a cream sort of color with a gold fin stripe, and gold (non-stock) wheels.
There's more to this car then meets the eye- but that's for Gary to tell you about!!!
I'll bet that there are pictures of the car in old threads from last year's show...

But in the meantime-- anyone got pictures from this year's show yet???

2011 Pacific Can Am Zone Meet

Had a great time and trying to include a photo of some of the cars from the 7th floor at the host hotel. Well planed and a very good show. The photo was taken early AM just after breakfast, more cars came in after this was taken. I drove from Saskatchewan Canada. Good to meet all the people all over again, Again Thanks for a GREAT SHOW.

                    Hi Evan
I think you are the only one I know that puts more miles on your Studebaker than I do.
That car must know its own way ftrom Saskachewan to B.C.
Thanks for the picture. Wish we could have been there.

Feel free to drop in fo a visit or garage tour on your way home.
I don't know which way you are going but you can see my place after you come off the connector into Westbank.
I am three blocks off main street on Elliott Rd. (3544 Big green sign)
