  • Studebaker York Swap Meet

There is normally an ad in TURNING WHEELS for the Keystone National Swap Meet at York.
At about the time the ad was to be sent, the grandson of our Chapter officers Gordon and Sidney Kertzel (on this Forum as larkregal62) was killed in a construction accident and, understandably, the ad did not get submitted for publication.
Bob Shaw has added a link to the ad in the "EVENTS" section of the SDC Home Page here:
    http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/ev_PA.asp

I am adding the link here and hope those of you who are interested will copy it and share it with your Chapter members. It will not appear in TURNING WHEELS.

Our thoughts and prayers continue for the grieving family.

I also hope you will forgive me if I bump this post a few times before the event.

That was such a horrible tragedy. Made me hug my son an extra time. God help them find the strength to continue on. I'm not sure I could.

I do so look forward to York every year. Still planning to have our 2nd Annual SDC Hooters lunch on Saturday

My deepest condolences go to the Kertzel family. I can't imagine the feelings they're going through now.
It kind of puts things into perspective for all of us.

            Latest News!

Swap Meet will be in both buildings this year! Car Corral will be offered indoors. Those driving Studes to the meet may be able to park in building B for a nominal exhibit only fee (space permitting) and there will be additional vendors.

Please print and share the following announcement with any interested parties. My local parts stores all posted it on their bulletin boards.

The next KRC Raffle Car will also make its debut and, IT'S REALLY INCREDIBLY STUNNING!

              Brad-
In past years, there have been other events (garden show, antique show, etc.) at the fairgrounds on the same weekend that my wife liked to attend. But the fairgrounds expo center web site calendar hasn't been updated since last October, so there's no info on what might be going on. Is there any way to find out?

Will there be limitations on starting and test driving the corral cars if inside ? Does this mean there will be parking where the car corral was originally located, or is there still outside vendor space, in that space for free....? I may bring a vehicle for sale....

                  Skip,
I can't speak for the lack of information on the Fairgrounds' web site. I do know the garden show will be in progress in the building just below the Swap Meet. Plus, as you know, lots of local history and things to see in the "Fourth Capital of the United States."

                  Jack,
There will definitely be restrictions on the inside Car Corral, mandated by the Fairgrounds: maximum 1/4 tank of gas, battery disconnected, fire extinguisher extant and fluid spills to be cleaned. KRC will supply fluid spill pads. There will be a fee for inside Corral, as with any vendor. Outside Corral will be free. There is still a fee for outside vendors. Complete details are not yet set in stone. This is something new we are trying and certainly solicit thoughts and input from all attendees to improve your experience at York.

Gordon has indicated anyone with specific questions may call him at the numbers on the Swap Meet flier at any reasonable hour Eastern Standard Time. Asking a question we have not considered only gives us the opportunity to address it before the fact.

I see the York Expo web site does have info on other events for the weekend. Garden Show and Folk Art exhibitions within a couple minute walk of the Swap Meet. No reason for the spouse to feel sequestered.
