  • Knut Rockne

Nice page with a lot of history about the man who gave name to Studebaker's Rockne. Coming from Norway, it's nice to know that a Norwegian played a role in the Studebaker story :-)

Great site. A few minor errors in the Studebaker part but nonetheless well done. Maybe the webmaster would have an interest in this photo?

Richard, how did Knute Rockne get to stand in front of a Rockne car when he died at the end of March 1931? There is no doubt you are good with photos.

Thanks Jim. Maybe this was a very early prototype?

Why isn't Knute casting a shadow in the picture??

Perhaps because by the time this car was built, he had already joined the 'choir invisible' and the invisible don't have shadows outside of your local photo shop.

I shall post no disparaging remarks about anything anyone posts if it brings the Rockne to the attention of the public.

                      "...all over again."

Perhaps, if Knute had been photographed with one of the two original Vale-Cole prototypes in 1931, which could have been a possibility, Richard would have not needed to go to the trouble.

Would it be too exquisite if either of those still existed?

Yep, that photo was discussed here before: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...ghlight=shadow

(The photo itself has disappeared from RQ's posts in this threard, but it was this one.)
