Ah, some dune schooners...cool. I remember riding in the ones operating at Saugatuck, Michigan, on the sandbanks; those were 70s Dodge trucks modified similarly to these Champs with the "toast rack" style passenger accommodation.

Methinks one of these would be a cool way for a bunch of SDCers to tour, say, the Proving Ground track...Any chance one of them has survived? From the numerals on the fenders, it appears there may have been as many as eleven in this fleet alone!

Yes there was an article in Turning Wheels about these Champs. I have that picture on a post card.

Sorry, but this one has been posted before, some years ago. This pix is of a postcard published by AVERY Color Studios, Saranac, Michigan.
Printing code is 61-245, series S-41556. The message in top left on reverse side- "RIDE MAC WOOD'S WORLD FAMOUS DUNE SCOOTERS. Located at Silver Lake, 11 miles West of Shelby and U.S. 31. Enjoy a scenic or thrill ride over 1500 acres of shifting sand dune mountains. Open May thru October. Write Mac Wood, Shelby, Michigan"

I assume the '61' in the printing code is for the year 1961.

LOL, well Brian, that's one of the advantages of old age. One can remember a conversation from twenty years ago (word for word) and yet forget that dental appointment for yesterday morning.
