In the latest AutoWeek magaizine (9-27) they have an auction recap from Dave Kinney (an Avanti fan) of a 58 Packard hardtop that sold at the RM Meadowbrook auction in July.
It had the 289 engine, excellent paint, good fit and finish, clean intyerior done to original specs. "IT would be tough to imagine that a better example exists", Kinney wrote.
In his brief summary, he tells the familiar (to us) story of how Packard & Studebaker merged. He said the car is one of just 675 58-Y coupes built and the bid received was within the auction company's estimate.
