  • First Cruise for my Lark

I went to my first cruise/event with my Lark last night. Battle Creek holds what they call "Cruise the Gut" every summer. This attracts hundreds of cars from all over south-central Michigan. They close off 5 or 6 blocks of downtown; the main street, Michigan Avenue and several side streets and parking lots, and only allow hot rods, customs, antiques, special interest, etc, to enter the area. Here is the local paper's report: http://www.battlecreekenquirer.com/a...+their+insides

The street can be cruised or park and watch. We did both. We walked around we were able to identify only 4 other Studebakers, which was a couple more than I expected! Here are small shots of all - except mine, which I forgot to photograph.

I think the Daytona and maybe the 50 Business Coupe are owned by an SDC'er from Battle Creek - I don't know his name, but I have met him a couple of times, including seeing him at South Bend this spring in a rose mist 63/64 GT Hawk. His name might be Richard Gibbons (or something like that). He is an older gentleman witha full white beard and has told me he owns several Studebakers.
