  • Early Heads Up on Possible Sale of a 10,000 mile All Original R2 Avanti

It's not 100% at this point, but we may be willing to part with our 1963 R2 Avanti. It's a great car with factory paint and interior. Plenty of documentation and extras. We will still want to run the car at the Pure Stocks in September, so were talking fall or winter before it goes on the market. Several people have asked us that if we ever decide to sell let them know, so we're trying to as much notice as possible. Those who have seen the car may comment as to it's life and condition. Again, this isn't a 100% sure thing, but potential buyer encouragement may put me over the edge. Lets talk me into it or out of it.

Jim, be prepared for a wide spectrum of reaction to what obviously seems to you like a reasonable post.

They want just the facts. "I've got this car in this condition and I want this much cash for it."

There are others, one SDC/RacingStudebakers!/AOAI member who has been trolling with a similar posts for years now. He'll send, "I've got three nice cars, call me and let's talk about them." No photos, no details, no asking prices. They're his cars and those are free fora, but most no longer take him seriously.

Your car, your decision, your post. As I said, just be prepared for a variety of reactions.

This is more a case of having had several people express an interest in the car and giving them some time to adjust their budget accordingly. Had I gotten and kept all their email addresses, I would have done this by private emails. When it's time to pull the trigger, I didn't want any of them to have the excuse they didn't know in time. In addition, just to be clear, this will not be a "fire sale" event and it will be as much a case of choosing the car's new home as price. The few folks who know the car will understand.
