  • AC-2905 Delco Radio

There is a AC-2905 Delco Radio on Ebay. Does anyone know if this would fit my 53 Starliner? Mine has a blockoff plate where the radio should go.

    Thanks,
    Bob (stude53)[8)]

    Hi Bob,

Don't know if this will help, but my 53 2 door sedan
    came with a Philco-Studerbaker Model AC 2300 S5327.
I realize that there are many differences between
the sedans and the higher end hardtops and coupes.

Also check in TW there are a couple of vendors that
sell refurbished radio's. They should be able to tell
you.. Plus there is a guy that sells tubes on ebay,
should you get one that doesn't work.

Your '53 Starliner should have an AC-2300 for push button or an AC-2301 for manual tune.
Offhand, I do not know what an AC-2905 is for. There are radios that will physically fit, like a '55 C/K radio, but not be correct for your car.
It's been a number of years, but four or five of my radios went to Bill Cathcart. Radios are outside of what he normally deals in. You might check with him to see if he has one.

Another lead would be: Dan Skidmore, in Los Angeles, CA.
he has an ad in TW.

            It's a 12V radio.

In addition to the push button or manual tune radio, there were also two different bezels. One had curved bottom edges for the custom cars that did not have chrome trim the entire length of the dash and the other had squared corners to fit the rest of the chrome in the high trim models.

He stated that he has a 1953 Starliner. They only came in Regal trim.

Right, but, if he's buying a radio he shouldn't get one with a bezel that won't fit the dash. Avoid the ones with the curved corners or plan on finding a bezel only; haven't seen too many of those available without a radio attached.
