        Bought it for $2.27 a gallon on Sunday here in Richmond, Va.

            It's 3.69 and 3.99 for gas here, diesel at 3.05.

            As to the sixes, there is very little gain. They have to work so much harder to haul these heavy old cars around and in town there's not only no gain, they get worse. You'd be better off with an OD tranny. Stay off the accelerator. Also, all the company documentation will tell you these cars are designed to get optimum mileage at 55mph, fwy driving. So, take your time, get there five minutes later, and save bucks! A fair trade in my humble opinion.[^]

                        I live about 40 miles east of Atlanta.There is a Shell station
                        about 5 miles away $2.43 reg $2.63 Hitest. Walmart a little less.

                                I will repeat, the best mileage I ever got in a Studebaker was 28mpg in a 289 3spd/od. I never managed that in my Champions.
