Appears to be processed bauxite. Is it license plate size?

Very cool! San Leandro is in the San Francisco Bay Area near Oakland. I lived there in the mid 70's. Does your friend have any more history on this club?

We would drill the holes on the top to "swing a plaque". He wants me to put it on ebay for him, $20 starting bid, no reserve, should be up Fri. evening. Here's one I had back in the 60's

Yes, thanks Bob. I was thinking of seeing if would made sense to make a reproduction of a few of those plaques. I think they could be made for around $25. If not, maybe the one we have could be restored and donated to the museum if they wanted it. The SDC pre-history you posted is pretty cool.

If you have some remade, have them read East Bay Studees. "East Bay Studies" sounds like a high school study group.[:I]

After I call South Bend, my friend Sal has decided to donate it to the Studebaker museum for display with the SDC web page write up.

Have you considered reproducing these? (or similar ones with Stude on them)

Matthew Burnette, the 16 year old Stude nut.

51 Stude dump truck (yes, I won the raffle)
                          52 Commander Starliner (basket case)

MANY more Studes in the family and a few parts cars

I looked into it, $100 setup charge amd cost of about $25 each, but what would they say ? Too many different cars that folks would want pictured.

Do it like this one, a 53-54 K body. Perhaps the most popular Studes ever built. But, make sure it says STUDES and not STUDIES. GO FOR IT!!! I'd buy a few for our cars. As would most everyone on here, I think. We even have a 54 coupe that it go great on. (well, a 56 Power Hawk with 54 'stuff' on it) BUT, instead of a certain city's name, have it just say STUDEBAKER. Or something of the like.
