  • R&M auction Studebakers in NY state

There are 3 Stude's listed at this auction + it mentions NOS parts
    52 L/C--57 G/H & 63 Avanti.When R&M gets involved the prices tend to skyrocket beyond reason.

That Golden Hawk has been setting outside in a field for years and has the s/c off of it and the top of the engine has been open to the weather (except for a blanket).. Some of the cars that are/were inside the sheds/barns/bldgs were pretty decent and unmolested, but they all need TLC and cubic cash. The one Model T was supposedly pretty rare as it had an opening LH door. The Horch supposedly had some provenance to a Nazi bigshot. I have a bunch of pic's from a couple years ago... Everything smelled of mildew and must.
But there seems to be a lot of loose Studebaker NOS parts in boxes...
That might make the trip to Cortland worthwhile...

Yes I can see the problem with the Golden Hawk but one must admit the R2 Avanti & the Land cruiser look-good

I had thought about going to this auction. It is bad enough that they charge a 15% buyer's premium (you can always factor that into the price as you bid), but it goes against my grain to have to pay them to be a bidder.

I wonder what other "improvements" the owner made?

IMO: You have to work hard to ugly-up an Avanti, but someone did!

The Bonanza and Apache airplanes are both neat inasmuch as they have their original paint schemes, rare nowdays.

I might still go, just as an outing. I will try to look for you, Robert.

Hey Gary, let me know when the show gets a little closer if you're going; it's always good to meet other Stude people...[8D]

I'll wear a pink corsage or something so you can find me.....

Just wondering if anyone here's going...?

I looked at the auction page to see what NOS Stude parts there were; they just show a small box with a couple odds and ends...[B)]

Still, I have intentions of going; can't help but be interested in that Golden Hawk....[]

I wanted to go, it is only about 250 miles one way for me. It turned out that we have four things on that day and a neighbor's graduation party won out.

That Piper looks interesting. I thought I would go for a multi engine rating. They used an Apache of the same vintage. Doing an engine failure on climb out, had a pucker factor of 12.
