I agree, Todd. That Lark is much too expensive.

I would love to have a 4-door '63 Lark in that color (because that's the car I rode in from age 4 and up, until it became my older brother's high school car). But I was thinking of finding one in the $3000 price range, sometime after paying off my other car-related debts.

Isn't this the town where Mr. Biggs lives?
And I know of a MUCH nicer 63 Wagonaire that has only 5300 original miles. Talk about a NOS car... But it's a 6 cylinder. Original EVERYTHING, except for hubcaps and tires.

Just goes to prove that people tend to get carried away on e-bay, common sense takes a back seat. It's an instant gratification thing.

Ebay is just a different and larger market. The guy that bought a GT Hawk from me last year owned 70 collector cars, all in a heated building. He got bored with it after spending 10K on a paint job and resold it at a loss. For some folks, 10K is peanuts, just not the average Studebaker gu

How could anyone get bored with a R2 4 speed GT Hawk?

To be honest, he thought since it was as rare as his Hemi Cuda, he thought he'd stolen it for my 30K Buy It Now. He put another 10K in the car and was buried. He resold it for a bit over the ebay cost, but lost his ass on the show paint job.
The good news is it's now in the hands of a Studebaker collector.

I guess if we look at the reality of the collector car market, 12k isn't too crazy. Try getting a Ford, GM or Mopar 2dr V8/Stick car for that kind of money in the same condition!

Here's a question to ponder: What's the lowest mileage Stude you've seen in the last 10 years? For me it would have to be that 63 Wagonaire, 5300. (Yes that's five thousand, three hundred). It resides in the collection of Dr. Robert Cade.

I had a 2R truck that I sold to a friend that still has under 6400 miles on it. I bought it from a boat yard that took it in for a debt from a Studebaker dealer. He used in to tow boats around the yard. It's still as I sold it. and have been trying to buy it back for 20 Years or so.

And we know people who have spent more than that putting two door sedans back in to that condition.
