You would have to turn off the A/C before attemting to climb a hill Id think.Odd combination, and you just have to wonder...WHY?
The person that ordered it thought they would save a few bucks on gas? Highly doubtfull, and for an extra hundred bucks he could have had the V-8 and a real nice car.
Our would Studebaker build a car like that just for inventory?
Seems to me it would be a tough sell after a test drive and the kids on Whizzer bikes keep smoking you at the light(G)

Funny, I don't recall ever seeing the "Lark" emblem before on the roof sail panel.

I have them on my '62, not sure if they are correct for '61 as well.

Those roof emblems were only available on ' 61 cars . I have a NOS set that are gold on 1 half and white on the lower half.

Now, I'm confused. I'm not talking about the Gold Lark emblems, those I know about. The oval emblem on the ebay car is new to me.

Yup, those emblems are correct for the '61s JP. Chrome at that. I've never seen any that were half white and half gold tho! Book lists only one kind for 61 and only on the W6 & F6 cars.
                They're different from yours, Nate.

It's one of those little mysteries that shows itself from time to time. The parts book calls out one number only, for those 61 sail panel emblems. Yet, the last ones I dealt with were chromed while you say you have a pair that are gold & white.
Studebaker had a sort of rule about part numbers for plated parts. Generally a chrome-plated piece had a "W" suffix to the part number. If it happened to be chromed WITH some painted area, it would carry a WP suffix. If it were gold colored (like the little Lark birds Nate mentioned) the number had a "V" suffix.
Thing is, it wasn't a hard, fast rule it would seem. For instance, the '55 hood ornaments - there were two varieties. One was all chrome while the President version of the same ornament was chrome AND gold plated. But in this case, the primary part number was the same while it was an X1 or X2 suffix that distinguished one from the other.
Getting back to the 61 Lark emblems, there should have been a different part number to distinguish the chromed ones from the gold/white ones. But that's not reflected in the books. 2R5, any chance those NOS ones you have are still in thier packaging? With part numbers?[8D]

I do have both types ; the totally chrome ones and the double colored ones . They both have the same part # ( 1338901 ) and there is no letters included on either one. The gold and white ones are in their original boxes as well . Mr Biggs , I'm emailing you a pic of these colored ones . I'd post the pic on here but have never figured out just how to do that . Maybe you could post the picture for me That way we may be able to figure this emblem mystery out from some other people.
