I do not know much about the car except that it has been on e-bay at least 3 times. I believe the first winning bidder backed out on the deal, not sure what happened after that. If I recall, Dale's reserve was in the $2500 range in the past.

Frank Drumheller (studelark) and I made a visit to a fellow over Christmas who has a couple of '55's for sale (along with several beaters). He wants to sell the whole bunch together (good luck on that) and was asking a stiff $6K for the lot (there are quite a few NOS items included). I do have some pictures if anyone is interested.

As an aside, it was funny to hear the owner (who is an old hippy) refer to someone else as a hippy. Frank and I just looked at each other and smiled when we heard it.

I've seen this a couple times and bid on it each time... for some reason I dig the nose as well as the cobbled look of the 2 door sedans [8D] I've lost a little interest in this one since the seller seems to have slapped bondo over roof rust... still a cool car though.

The car belongs to Dale Early who is president of the Greater Virginia Chapter of SDC. I know him and he is a good guy, but I am not familiar with the car.

Gary Hearn (guido) or Frank Drumheller (studelark) could probably tell you more about it.

    1955 Studebaker commander / Ebay

Does anyone know anything aabout this car. It's been on Ebay a few times and if I remember correctly it's met the reserve. I'm not trying to offend anyone (if the owner is on here),I'm just suprised it hasn't sold.
