  • One of those Weeks.....

Some weeks go right...this hasen't been one.

Last week I welded a new starter ring-gear on the torque converter of my 64 six.....Three days ago while brushing snow off the car, the pot metal hood orniment broke at -5 degrees F.

Today while driving it I suddenly got a major coolent leak out of somewhere....looks to be the back of the block, probally the freeze plug......I knew I should pulled the engine too! grrrr.....

Anybody have a 64 hood orniment they want to part with?

    Kent

I liked the spring loaded circle S hood ornaments. I think that they were for export cars. Sorry, but I already sold my last one.

            Kent,
Look on the bright side - it is supposed to be in the 40s here all week. Time to get putting parts back on the Cruiser!

Gary , you mentioned spring loaded hood ornaments.....I happened to see one of those for sale in Omaha last fall, never seen one before . Did Studebaker make them or were they an aftermarket thing ?

I really like the '63-'66 hood ornament a lot. Still, it was fragile and kind of a stupid arrangement. The spring-loaded type would have been much better. When you find a replacement, Kent, you might think about taking it off in winter.
