  • 1965 Production Numbers

Does anyone have the actual production numbers from 1965? I have a 1965 Studebaker Cruiser 6 cylinder. The previous owner states it was 1 of 791 sixes, but I'd like to verify total numbers for that year.

    Thanks!

You will want to get a September 2004 issue of Turning Wheels. It has a Fed K. Fox Feature Article on 1961-66 Cruisers. Yes, you have one of 791 1965 six cylinder Cruisers. (There were 2901 1965 V8 Cruisers.)

I found an August 1988 article that discussed the Canadian Studebaker's, but cannot locate any back issues as recent as 2004. How do you go about getting those?

I plan on ordered the August 1988 TW, hopefully I can get the 2004 issue also.

I have amassed a good collection of TW's at swap meets, there's a guy at York and Reedsville that has them for $1 apiece, and a good selection. I usually buy whatever issues have any info on any of my cars from him, then watch eBay and other vendors for "good deals" - anything under $1 an issue, if I don't have it, I buy it. Lots of good "reading room" material Also the index is online on the SDC web site so you can print it out to take with you when you go to swap meets. I have enough issues that I have a spreadsheet to keep tabs on what I have and don't have Part of the problem from my perspective is a lot of guys have been into the hobby longer than I've been able to drive legally and will tell me to look in the August 1988 issue or something like that for an article that answers my question perfectly, I have to keep reminding them that that was the year I got my driver's license <G>

          Hi Mark,
I'd like to verify the number too: The Standard Catalog for Studebaker speaks of 791 Cruiser 4-dr Sedans in the Six Series with a base factory price for 1965 of 2.470 US$ and a shipping weight of 2.815 lbs.

          Best regards,

          Bjoern

Well, I guess I have 1 of 791 then! I'm just trying to pull together the number to add them to my website. It looks like I'm going to be on the hunt for a few back issues of TW.

            Thanks!
