  • Need pics of STOCK 63 & 64 R2 Lark air cleaners

mounted in their stock positions. I scored a Lark type R2 air cleaner for my 62 R2 resto-mod. (not sure if it considered a clone since its a 62 so we'll go with resto-mod?) I now need to know how exaclty to install it. Also I searched back to a similar post for answers and seen that a longer hose is required part # 1556785 does anybody know if this hose is availible, I have the short one they are different than heater hose.

    John,
If you are looking for a longer hose I assume you must have the style air cleaner that looks and gets mounted like this.

You say the hose that you have is different than heater hose. In what way is it different? Is there a preformed end or something? I thought a thin walled 3/4" heater hose would work. If a preformed end is needed I found a 3/4" heater hose for a Jeep that is about 38" long that has 1 preformed end on it. I did not get or try it yet but I have the Advance Auto part number for it somewhere.

    regards,

    Jay

Kinda but instead of facing the front my breather tube faces the firewall and the mounting stud is at about 7 O'clock.

As for the hose it might be some type of heater hose but it doesn't resemble the basic heater hose I bought at napa recently.

The other style R2 Lark air cleaner is mounted like this.

The one for the 1964 Avanti has the breather tube pointed back towards the firewall with one of the mounting brackets attached to the valve cover stud and looks like this.

          regards,

Well I guess I have the 64' Avanti cleaner. Thanks Jay it still looks closer to the Lark cleaner. I can make the brackets to attatch I to the fender in Lark fasion.
