  • B-W three speed w/od article

I just picked up the July issue of [u]Street Rodder</u> because of an article about a friends fabrication shop in Delaware. The bonus was an article on Borg-Warner three speed/OD transmissions. The featured tranny was from an '49-'50 Mercury but it provides some interesting information. The article features a tear down and rebuild of the transmission. Lots of pictures. The author has lots of praise for these old transmissions. I am not familiar with non-Stude versions of this tranny, but from the way the author writes the article there may be some differences between the Merc version and the versions in our Studebakers. Still the article provides a great description of how the transmission works. The article takes up some of 11 pages.

Yes, I read this post earlier and just picked up a copy at the local Supermarket.

I can say the housing adapter is different and the plate with the oil singer that holds the blocking ring in the housing is different than a T-96 but basicaly all of te R-10's are close enough to be the same thing.
