  • What do you guys think of my new cargo area mat?

    Hey guys,

I just made myself a cargo area mat for my wagon, since the original stude ones are hard to find, let alone cheap. These are some pics before the final trimming which I did today; and the carpet needs to relaxe abit still (The car is in the sun now ) But what do you guys think? Do you think there would be any market if I made nicer ones, at a not extreme price?

I can price it out if ya want me too, and use it as a training run. I know of some cheaper carpets, that still look good.

Chris, that would be cool, but how would it work in your '40?[?]

Thank you. I'd really appreciate that. The wheel-well cover finally completely collapsed in my Parkview. The wood was totally rotten and I was putting off replacing it whilst the ribbed linolium survived. Now it has given out, I'd like to cover the bare plywood and this would be a nice alternative.

Ok, I'll be getting back to you. I just had surgery yesterday, so I'm not sure when I can price out both cheaper carpets. The back of the '56 is the same as a '57 2 door right? I MIGHT be able to make some patterns off of a friends '57 if so.

Here is some more pics, taken today.

I've used the carpet in other parts of the car, and this is what it looks like. For cheaper mats, I can use this, or a cheaper cut pile as well.

                    Dylan, where's the Bird?

The Studebaker ones had a circle with a climbing Lark in it, in the center of the cargo area, but they did not cover the rear seat board also like yours.

Those rubber mats were never changed from '59 to '66 so the rounded rear corners do not perfectly fit the '63-'66 models, but they work. [^]

Right there! I love instant results! [8D]

I would love to add a emblem, but haven't found or made one yet. I might try to develop these a little more, and make them available relativly inexpensivly. Don't know if that sounds corny or not yet, haha! Mine has a removable section that stows away under the rear seat, so you got both.

Oh really? That is interesting! Do you have one by chance, that I may be able to trace and make a pattern off?
