    Great pics, Lenny.

I wonder how much oxy-acetylene welding Instructor Harry Lane observes with no eye protection?[:0][xx(] [8D]BP

RE eye protection. I have known several men who would never put on goggles when cutting or welding with oxyacetylene. Never understood the willingness to take that risk.

Sometimes, the damage is so gradual that the person doesn't realize their vision is being impaired. Some senior steel pourers in the open hearths at US Steel would ask me to read the paper showing what the heat of steel was going to be. They unfortunately chose not to wear the cobalt blue goggles provided and the glow from the white hot molten steel gradually destroyed their near vision. We were looking at a 3" stream of molten steel from maybe 5' away as it poured into huge molds. The technology has changed several times since that era when lost time accidents were high. Safety practices should always be observed.
