  • Stainless Steel Trim

MY 1953 Studebaker 2 door hardtop 'K' has stainless steel trim on outside top of the door and around the front of the windshield. Apparently they came with chrome pieces so from what I gather this trim came from a coupe. I need one piece and I was wondering what year the coupe's had stainless trim.

I have been told it was 1955 only. Junior

      '55 COUPE only.

The windshield trim was always stainless, but the three pieces underneath it and the strips along the doors were chromed pot metal on all other C-Ks, have no idea why.

There must have been a year when they used stainless because I have them already, I only need the drivers side door top. I don't want chrome.

It may have been a California car variation, but my 53 K body had pot metal strips under the windshield. I had to replace the old pitted ones and the replacement ones from the original SASCO were also pot metal. Of course back then I threw away that sort of stuff (pitted pot metal.

I meant that the trim *around* the windshield, including the side pieces that don't go into the gasket, were always stainless, the pot metal pieces that you refer to were always pot metal except on the '55 C-bodies.
