Most of the cars are '41's, although the open cars are older.

Looks like Ronald Reagan in the first open car.

Could this be a big War Bond drive tour that came through South Bend?

UPDATE: I think Leonard is right..the opening for the movie "Knute Rockne, All-American" starring Ronald Reagan. It would make sense to premiere in South Bend.

Are the two open cars the gold 1939 Worlds Fair Parade Cars? Reagan in the first open car, and, ?? (perhaps the producer of the movie) in the second car, not Rockne because he died in 1931.

The 3 Convertible's are 38' Presidents. The other cars are all 41 Commander's and/or President's. The event taking place is the premiere of "Knute Rockne-All American" on October 4, 1940 in downtown South Bend. The people in the three convertible's are Ronald Reagan, Pat O'Brien, & Donald Crisp. Ronald Reagan played one of Rockne's players George Gipp where he later earned the nickname "The Gipper".

That looks more like Ronald Reagan in the middle of the back seat of the second drop top.

Although the man in the last car bears a resemblance to "Fred Mertz" William Frawley it's not him.
