  • Allan Songer's 56- a retrospective

We've followed this build from the beginning; from the first post on 11/21/07, culminating with the chance to buy it today. It's been pretty cool living vicariously for those of us who wish we were doing the same thing[8D] Now the car can be bought for a steal price!

Should anyone not be aware of, or has forgotten, this epic drama, I took a minute to compile- in order- the various threads about this build, below. By the time this posts, somebody will probably have already grabbed it, but if you have some serious time to spare and want to relive the build, check out the threads.

Congrats on completion of the build Allan, and my condolences on having to sell it. Maybe you can show this thread to prospective buyers. Good luck, and salute!

    BEFORE- 11/07:

    AFTER- 01/10:

    The build threads:

Thanks for doing this. I sure would love to sell the car here before ebay, but it seems than doesn't happen very often. Will be taking pics and a short video on Saturday for the ebay ad and hope to have it listed by the beginning of next week, so that leaves about a week before ebay if anyone wants to step up and buy this car from me . . .

Dick S said the same thing--told me that the car more than likely won't sell to an SDC member, that ebay was the only way to go.

Isn't the "After" supposed to be 1/10?

I'm shocked the sale of this car has not yet been announced for that price- CASOs or not, bad economy or not, small exposure or not! I'd love it, and I prefer Larks!

This is a chance for someone to buy a brand-new build, already done, just take it to shows and collect the attention and trophies, and enjoy- for peanuts! Shipping anywhere is easy- one phone call can take care of that. Financing for something like this is even readily available. What's it cost to find and buy a decent R1 and rebuild it- at least half the price of this whole car! If I could I'd buy it, enjoy it for the summer, and flip it, probably for a profit. If it goes to eBay it'll likely do more than what you can buy it for today!

Railbirds- take the time to look at the above threads and absorb just how much effort, and how many hours, along with the money, went into this build. It's got it all already, and all done for you. What a super-bargain; it's time to raid the retirement fund

Thanks again for the cheerleading, pal! I really do hope the car sells to someone around here. Photo shoot for ebay is Saturday including a short video. Ebay is a crapshoot, but I am pretty sure the car will sell with the small reserve price I have in mind. I had a bite this morning from a member here, so here's hoping I can pass this one along to a "family member." The car is STILL for sale, however and will be until I get some sort of firm commitment to buy.

Listed at $16,500 on the H.A.M.B this morning. SDC price is $15K.

Well, it should be right up your alley than, its a Pre-Lark.

Theres a Lark in the middle.

Not really Tom, not funny-looking enough for me. But for that price I'd buy it and see if it grew on me

This is one of those win-win deals: If someone buys it then Allen gets the sale he needs, and the buyer gets a fun-ready piece they can be proud of right off the truck; win-win. Who wouldn't "cheerlead" a situation like that??[8D]

As a bonus, this car comes with it's own provenance... the owner can make a display sign that says "AS SEEN AT THE 2010 GNRS"[]

Remember, shipping is easy to arrange; one 5-minute phone call and it's set, insured and worry-free.

If it goes to eBay, chances are we'll lose track of it. Here's hoping a forum member gets it!

Heck, man whoever buys the car can have the 'Class Award' plaque I got at the 2010 GNRS. I had a ball going up on stage to get it with a huge pic of my car on the big screen and don't really need the plaque once the car goes. The new owner can have the custom poster I had made for the show as well! Heck, I'll even throw in the cool aluminum easel too!

Really nice car, just my style,, and worth the money.
BUT, if yall think $16,500 is peanuts, then yo money
is a whole lot easier to come by than mine.[:I]

I assume Allan built my '63 Lark around 1996. Don't know if the same shop painted it but it still looks great. There are a couple small bad spots but hey it's now 2010! The chrome and stainless are really nice. Everything has held up.I'm saying whoever buys that '56 will get a quality car that they can enjoy for years to come. Come on, someone in SDC buy this jewel! We support you! Huck, in Detroit

Thanks, pal. I built the Lark in '95/'96 and it makes me so happy that it's still going strong and looking good!
