I don't even BEGIN to pretend I know prewar parts commonality, but I would THINK that a decklid for a '41 would work as well. There might be differences for handle or trim, but I'd think the basic lid would fit.
The parts books show that Biz Coupe lids were different than the lid used on 2 and 4-door sedans (they used the SAME lid)[:I]

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

I am not sure either if a 41 would fit

... the guy doing the body repairs is a master body repair guy
and I would think that he could do any minor mods to make a 41 fit .

. I've seen so many old 41 4 drs in the past you would think there was plenty donors out there

and this forum has come thru for me 100% of the time when I needed anything

he is calling French Lake today

We are under the impression that '46 '47 lids might fit too

does your '42 coupe use any parts from post war cars like 46 & 47's?

and much thanks for the lead I will let you know what he turns up

A 1946 Studebaker is a warmed-over 1942 Champion, so I would expect the deck lid to fit. A 1947 Champion is a completely different car (First By Far With a Postwar Car) and body parts will not fit the 1942.

Gary is correct. 41, 42, and 46 are all the same car. Just different trim.

Did the '42 Commander and Champion use the same deck lid? obviously the front clips are quite different, what about the rest of the body shell? do doors interchange between Champions and Commanders?
Nope, I've never owned either, but was just recollecting that the "famous" "Studebaker in a tree" was identified as a '42? Commander. (I stlll haven't got around to taking in that sight- but local family members are familiar with the location)
