  • Is Avanti Paint in Rattle Cans?

Are Avanti paint colors available in rattle cans? I have looked at several vendors, and they only seem to have wheel paint. Is there any vendor that has correct color paint? Or is my only option to have it mixed? Thanks, John in VA

Many auto paint supply stores will custom mix spray paint. They can also color match. I shure if you check the yellow pages you can find one near your location.

Go this website for info on the Avanti ... the link below has color chips with original Rinshed-Mason paint codes.
        http://www.theavanti.com/paint_colors.htm

Then give these guys a call the can probably make up a spray can based on the paint code and mail it to you. The online search tool for paint codes list some 63-64 Studebaker colors but not the Avanti colors and the codes they show are consitent with R-M paint code format. The spray cans are 12 oz size.

Another great tool with ability to move cursor over paint chips to magnify for many older cars and makes is this website. Again there Stude paint chips are for not Avanti models during the 63-64 years.

I just had my local automotive paint store mix a quart of paint for the Champ PU. They really had to do some research to find the correct mix number, but they hung in there and got er done (it was 63'green mist metallic). I told them that I wanted it for touch up paint and did not want to do hardener. They said that it had to be alkyd enamel or else it would not air dry properly without the hardener. The quart cost $20 and the spray cans were $10 each. I have not used it yet, but I opened the can and the color looks to be correct.
