  • Got a 55 C yesterday-Need Hawk dash I D

    I bought a 55 c-body commander yesterday(pictures coming).
It has a Hawk dash. How do you tell what model the dash is?
I will get a picture, but what are the differences? It has
all the gauges, including a fuel pressure. Tachometer, and
clock. Engine turned, with a smooth pad on top??

IIRC, the Hawk dashes were pretty much the same from '56-61. The color of the toggle switches changed, the '56 GH has a vacuum gauge and a padded dash, 57-58 GHs have the vacuum/supercharger boost pressure gauges as standard equipment.

None had a "fuel pressure" gauge as standard. You either mean a manifold pressure gauge (Golden Hawk) or it has an aftermarket fuel pressure gauge. Other than that, it is 1955 (but you said "Hawk", so 1956) to 1961.

I know it's not a hawk. Someone has put a hawk dash in it.
I am not that up on Hawks. so I was curious about the dash
because, it's complete and I will probably sell it. I didn't
know if there were any fuel pressure gauges ever put in or not.
I thought maybe the clock might be different I will get a picture on later.

It's pretty simple Tex if it has round ball ends on the switches, it's a '56, '57-'61 are Black tapered long ends with stainless coned discs in the center.

After '58 GH's the Vacuum or Vacuum/Press. gauge would be a owner add-on, and the Tach. and Clock a Factory/Dealer option.

It will make no difference in a '55 what year it is, the only no-fit without mod. item would be the Radio, unless you have the correct year Hawk, but if it has one, not a problem. [^]

If the fiberglass is BLACK, it's '56-'58, Color came along in '59-'61, except Packard Hawk & '57 Golden Hawk 400.

56 and 57 dashes are different than 58-61.
The radio cut out is larger for the earlier dashes.

there's differences in the switches as well. '56 at least was all toggles, I think the later ones used sliders for some of them (wiper? Defrost? I can't remember)

Minor point but the '56GH had a manifold vacuum gauge and the supercharged '57-58 GHs have a manifold vacuum/pressure gauge.
