There were 166 1949 two door sedans made for export (not necessarily to Spanish speaking countries). I don't know why all are assuming Mexico. There are a LOT of other Spanish language countries. The build sheet should show where it was initially destined for.

Studebaker enthusiast much longer
You might have a rare one. If the Vin is in Spanish it's very possible it was made for Mexico. Where did you find it? If you have the Studebaker Vin send it to the Studebaker museum and see the history on it. It should be interesting.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY ON MY 49 2 DOOR SEDAN CHAMPION HAS SPANISH WRITTE ON THE VIN TAG IN THE DRIVERS DOOR ARE THEY ALL LIKE THAT OR WAS THIS CAR INTENDED TO BE SOLD IN MEXICO?
