My father was the Studebaker dealer in Champaign, IL from 1946 to 1956. Except for the Continental Kit and the wire caps, this car looks just like his '53 demonstrator: a Maui blue Commander Regal Starlight Coupe. As well as being a principal of Hudelson-Whitebone, Dana Hudelson was also the Ford dealer in Champaign. My father kept a Cessna 170 at the Univ of IL airport. As I recall, Hudelson kept his Navion in an adjacent hanger and drove a red Mercedes 300SL gullwing coupe.

At the risk of overpraising the custom work done by my father-in-law and his brother in 1955, their manufacturing of a continental kit on our '53 came out pretty good.
