                  Was it a passing fancy like the visors?
                  I noticed the bullet nose has one also.
                  The only thing I recollect using a spot light for back in the day, was for spotting deer.

                    60 years ago in rural areas, there wasn't any light other than the moon, so a spotlight came in handy when trying to look at something not on the road. See if the barn is latched, is the windmill working, how many cows are there, does that girl in the back seat have a blouse on......

                    All sorts of things.
