  • 63 R1 Wagonaire, Diesel Tractor , Trailer Toter

Hey Guys well I finally have come to the reality that i have too many irons in the fire. Plus I am in the process of buying Peters 62 R2 4spd regal that was posted here recently. I have always wanted to build this car, always thought it would be a hardtop, but what says sleeper better than a post car. Anyhow this one although a great deal is still a little pricey SOOOO i have to thin some things out. here is a list of what I have availible, they will be posted on the Stude sites first then off to ebay.

1957 3E7 259 bored to @312 4bbl. (runs strong) NP 5spd overdrive, 4:10 TT all original drivetrain except for the trans. (project)

    1960 5E12 122 259 3spd overdrive 4:10 dana 60 3/4 ton Runs and drives stops.

    1961 6E7 122 T6 259 factory auto 3:73 TT solid running condition unknown.

1963 8E45 Detroit Diesel Tractor, Complete minus doors has not been run since 1974

1963 Wagonaire factory R1 and HD FOM disk brakes sliding roof HD suspension, 3rd seat 6000rpm tach ect. has not been run since 1975. complete and solid needs some floor work.

1964 8E28 (BACH) Trailer Toter solid body extendable mirrors 55' 232V8 Np 5 Spd overdrive Runs, Drives, rear brake line broke.

The wagonaire is one of only about 5 or 6 left out of 44, and the only one ever built in sea foam green, and from what I hear it may be the most solid & complete of the bunch, it will be the last on this list to go if it goes at all. But i might as well entertain offers.

Email me off line if interested

Its not, the front floors are bad, replacement floors would correct that the front clip is a 64 must have been replace YEARS ago the paint is all faded the same. a little bit of bubbling behind the rear wheels but easy fix. from what i've been told ther are only a handfull of real R1 wagons out there, and all or most are worst than this one. I asked here when I bought it if anybody knew of a streetable one and all I got was rusty parts cars, or drivetrains that were pulled and put into something else. Nobody I talked to here or at CeRap new of a restord or streetable 63 R1 wagon. This one was really a barn find it has some issues but is WELL worth restoring.

Perhaps it was involved in a front-end collision, as I notice the front bumper is also a 1964 piece. Looks like a great project. Perhaps others would like to see pics of your other Studebakers for sale. I know I would.

That R1 Wagonaire is AWESOME. That would be the greatest little grocery getter ever made. Windows down, roof slid forward, lowered, wide whites, arm hangin' out the window and stylin' like a mad gangsta. BTW, I would keep the 64 front sheetmetal if it were mine. So, what would it take to steal it.... I mean, buy it from you??????

Is that an older engine in the toter? It looks different than the engines in my 63 & 64 Studebaker cars (up front oil filler and 4 bolt valve covers). You may want to add a larger diameter air cleaner before pulling any large mobile homes. Looks like you purchased an outdoor wood boiler? Get it hooked up and operating yet?

Yeh it's listed above that its a 55' or 56' 224 truck engine, and a 50's oil filler tube for a supercharged engine i was told.

What is even more unique about that one is what you've already stated; it being the only Wagonaire with an R1 that was painted Seaspray Green. I believe there was only one '63 R1 G.T. Hawk in that color as well.

There is a 63 Daytona R1 wagon here in Western Australia (63V16481). It is currently white. The JTN listing shows the original colour to be Blue Mist. The car is in good condition and driven regularly. I only have 2 photos but they are not on a web site; happy to e-mail them to anyone interested.
Oh yes; the car is a factory 4spd.
