  • 1952 Coupe on Ebay

    Check out this link:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stude...item19b82af815

This car was purchased at Reedsville for 1/5 of the asking price on Friday and then was listed for resale at this price the next day. of course those there knew what it was purchased for so it was dragged home and here it is again at the same price. If you look closely at the pictures you can see that they were taken in Reedsville.

I never realized how much different a coupe was from a 2, door hard top.
I knew the rear window was different and of course that will also change the trunk but I did not know the rear of the back fenders were so different and also the dash.
Anyone out there need a front bumper pan like the one shown in the first pic? Or the other gull wing looking piece that goes under it?
I have one of each that are nothing but in my way.

    Dean.

I saw the ad and never looked close. The guages are the only thing that tips you off to it being a 52 Champion.

Dean FYI - Coupe or hardtop isn't really the thing that makes things different here. The lack of dash chrome and smaller trunk handle are indicative of the "custom" trim level. Bottom level.
You couldn't get a hardtop in custom trim, just the higher regal trim. You'd see a Champion regal with more dash chrome.
I'm surprised a "custom" level car had 2 reverse lights, but you never know.

            Hi Dan,
I know with Studebaker most things were options.
On my car it does not have the back up lights, never did. The trunk (emblem?) or the thing the key goes in was removed and holes were patched/bondoed over.
The rear of those fenders are the big surprise to me, What type of tail lights went on those?
The bumper pan they show is only 51 right?

            Dean.

That's Dick Lindsey, barnlark knows him. He's sold a number of cars, some for good money, some really cheap.

Good call on this one, it's at $2500 with 2 days left. Good for him! If I had been there I'd have done the same thing[8D]

Sorry JDP, he beat you to this one!

No wonder this thing looks different to Dean, it's got '47 to '49 rear fenders! [:0] The '50 to '52's did not have horizontal tail lights.
With a '51 front clip, about all that is '52 is the Champion Dash, which is nothing like a Commander.

                  Hey,
So maybe (in this case at least) I not an idiot after all.
I just knew they didn't look like mine.

Interesting...geez, I just knew that duo of original, non-bitsa 1950 Champions that were for sale at $Can2k the pair here last summer was a good deal! (Somebody in this area did buy them, but I don't know their current disposition...)

                          Ok,
Thought about it for a while and still can't figure it out so I have to ask what will in the end most likely be a dumb question.

What the heck is a bitsa/non bitsa?

bitsa this one and bitsa that one???

                          Sorry,

                          Dean.
