My friend's uncle bought a new '57 Plymouth and after it was paid off three years later he junked it exactly one month later. The car was that bad. The rumor on these cars was that you didn't sit in one too long on a rainy day or you would drown. And their ability to rust out actually exceeded Studebaker's, which was quite an accomplishment.
I work with an older gentleman who also bought a '57 Plymouth brand new, and he never bought another Chrysler product again.
Don't get me wrong, I am a big Mopar fan. They are my daily driver cars. But the '57s were not one of Chrysler's best ideas, at least not from a quality standpoint.
I do wish it was a Studebaker that was buried in the time capsule. But I'll still be interested in the ceremony.
I say: "Put a new battery in, some gas, and FIRE THAT MOTHER UP!!!" [:0]
