Hey, y'all. I just joined this forum because of a love for good cars. I don't own a Studebaker (yet), though I've been on my neighbor to sell me a '53 2 door he's had for a long while. I think it's been over two years, maybe three, since I first asked. He's finlly decided to sell out a lot of his projects, keeping only his baby, a '49 (I think) Studebaker pick up he's had since before the dawn of time, and a car that he says is one of two in existance in the US. So hopefully I'll soon have the '53. He's saying he'll send it with the stock flathead 6, and keep the V8 he has for his truck.

I'm the incredibly ancient age of 23, married happily to a woman almost (but not quite) as insane as me, and a long time classic car enthuiast, since I was about 3.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to hanging out and haunting this forum, though I probably won't be contributing much outside of sucking up bandwidth. Thanks.

Guard: Where are you going in such a hurry?
Gorrak the ranger: Uhhh...Gorrak have quiche in oven!!
    Guard: well hurry along.

        Welcome Don.

I'd kill to be as ancient as you! I was 28 before I "discovered" Studebakers and it's a mania that's served me well (OK - so I SERVED IT since then![}]) ever since.
Hang out with us Geezers 'n teens and we promise to do our very best to help you get crusin' in your dream machine.

Since you are in Tennessee you should come to the Studebaker meet March 10 2007. I'll be there in a 48 Business coupe dark red

Thanks all. I'll try to come, but I'm in West Tenn, near Memphis, so getting out that far is a stretch normally.

I "discovered" Studebakers when I moved here at 7. My neighbor had his truck, and while I wouldn't dream of trying to buy it from him; it was his first car; I kinda loved the old truck's design. I also had to pass up a solid, running Champ pickup once. They wanted $300 for a I6 powered, running truck with not a lot of rust. Unfortunately, I had no way to bring it back the 300 miles to my house, and I had a '73 Dodge Dart for a project anyways. I have a '69 Dodge truck now, but I'm not planning on using the truck for anything, just keeping the rear end.
