    The airplane's a DeHavilland Rapide.
    Beat me to it!
I flew in one the last time I was in England, quite a nice plane.

An early commuter airliner or bisiness plane and predessor of the famous Mosquito wooden fighter-bomber.

The engines were also made by De Havilland.
    Fairchilds had in-line Rangers.

Leonard, That could easily be my dad by the dump, and his dad in the dragline. Dad has told about driving a '41 Studebaker dump truck, and his dad throwing gravel into the box. The new Chevys would tear up clutches, but never had any trouble with his truck. But by their ages in the photo, it could be. Dad was in Ind. at the time, and I think the R.G Mall truck is some where in Mi.

I believe the airplane is a Fairchild--anybody know for sure? and who made those upside-down (for prop clearence) engines? (airplanes are something I gave up for family harmony after putting about 3 Studebakers in a 1947 Cessna 140)
