  • startin new work in CandB shop soon

I don't know how many of the forum people are from my area, but over the years I have been asked if I do repair work on Studebakers, my answer has always been no just used parts, well now we plan on doing most types of work on Studebakers and also body work if anyone wants it done My friend Fred is an expert on body work and repairing metal work and would like to start do it in my shop so just call if interested also most other items to do with the cars and trucks, people have trouble finding any one that want or knows how to work on the old Studebakers, Studebakers West is the only other one in our neck of the woods that works on them and I don't plan on taking his customers but he does have a full slate all the time and no body work, this is just a feeler out there right now, let me know what you think...Bob

Great news...GL...most of us do "most" of the work due to not enough guys like you, or the need for that extra knowledge before we crack a drum or strip out something.....Bushing work etc would be one thing that comes to mind...I never get over a nice looking fresh car with saggy front springs and/or stripped spring bushings....what a difference in ride...

Great idea, that! We lost our other competent Stude mechanic when he buggered off to Oregon. So, It'll be nice to have someone available who actually knows what their doing with a Studebaker.

Bob, I still want those waterpump manifolds. Just ran into a bit of a sticky situation around here...

Bob, good luck. I think it'll be a winner for you.

I'm a mechanical dummy. Nearest Stude-specific shops to me are about 2 1/2 hrs. each direction. I sure wish one was closer!

Even for guys who know how to wrench, I think some are getting older and would probably enjoy having a shop nearby that actually knows Studes.

                Best to you!

                  That's great news, Bob.
I'm just over the bridge and will be glad to have another shop in the area. Carl and Herman are great, yet it's always great to have more options for the sake of location and schedule - the more the merrier!

Still in the thinking and talking stage, but as always it could depend on who you are and how well you are liked if we would even deal with you...Bob

My plan have always been to deal in used parts and new if I came across any, but since we have been working on the body of the 60 wagon, my friend Fred who likes doing body work and is good at it said why not take on some business, in fact he said he would like to do it all, since he has built cars in the past, so we will just see where this takes us, another friend is going to bring his GTO in for some body work, maybe we will pull out his 389 and but in a 259, think he would know?? will try and keep you posted on how things are going...Bob
