  • Some progress on the Daytona

Spent the afternoon/evening at the shop messin' around with the Daytona. We're a little farther along...

I pulled a decent dash assembly from a parts car last year, and took the thing apart today. I bought some Gojo hand cleaner and coated it on. That stuff really works nice on old vinyl parts and rubber too. The dash got a little softer, but it's still kinda brittle. If has a few cracks, but NOTHING like the dash that's in the car.

Here's a few pics from today...

    Paint label from parts car.

We've been doing the body work one panel at a time, and all we lack is the tail end now. The red is just to keep rust away, it's not the finish. Note the two-tone line I'll be going with on the C-pillar.

    Nice workbench, eh?

Here's a speedometer I pulled from a '63 Cruiser. I took it apart and cleaned it, and it looks nearly new!

Dash in the car now. [:0][xx(]

This is my 7 year old cousin, Josh. He has been promised a solid, strong running '56 Power Hawk. We're in the process of making it look like a '54 coupe. This is him sanding on the driver's door.

Now, does anyone know of something that can be used to fix the small cracks in the dash? There's gotta be something out there.

Where are your cousins goggles, would hate to see his eyes damaged from some old paint coming off that sander.

                Matt,
Check Eastwood Co. for vinyl repair kit. Never used it, but if it works ... like-new dash.
