    How about Studebaker making heavy trucks for the U.S. Army-closed South Bend & sold the contract & plant to Kaiser-Jeep-Kaiser sold Jeep to American Motors-American Motors formed AM General-AM General developed the Humvee which became known as the Hummer-GM bought the Hummer name & produced the H2 & H3-GM joint venture with Toyota @ NUMMI.

      Here is a simple connection between Studebaker and Toyota, albeit in name only.

      In the early fifties, Studebaker's extended wheelbase luxury sedans were named the Land Cruiser. After Studebaker dropped this model, Toyota later picked up the name for their version of the 'Land Rover'.
      People often comment on my car saying, 'I thought Land Cruisers were made by Toyota.'

      Despite the name, I doubt anyone would describe the ride in one of those rugged old Toyota 4x4 vehicles as a 'cruise'.
