how much to pay for '63 Automatic R1 Avanti?

Found a '63 Automatic R1 Avanti. Not run in 20 years, owner in late 50's, drove from parents when they died,
and left outdoors, Texas, on concrete driveway since then.

What is a reasonable price, as it is NOT LIKELY that the owner will put up with attempting to start. How much is it worth as a PARTS CAR?

Any one interested in an R1 Engine? Original Automatic Transmission? Original Air Conditioning??

Depends on how much of a "basket case" it is. Take some photos & post them. Check the frame & hog troughs to see what shape they are in.

Depends on the condition of the parts, but in the 3-5K range. If the interior and dash is shot, engine stuck and the rest, 3K tops.

Sounds similar to mine, except yours has all the bumpers and shiny stuff. I paid $3000 in New York City for a non-running Texas car minus bumpers and bling. Some have told me this is in the right neighborhood, others may disagree. I suppose the bottom line is what its worth to you.

You say; "...drove from parents..." Where was this - Ohio, NY or elsewhere in Texas? This could make a difference in the condition f the frame and torque boxes.

My guesstimate, based on the information given, is $2000-$3000. If you get it cleaned up, running and it is solid underneath, probably double that.

If it has been sitting outside in Texas for 20 years there is nothing left of the interior, unless it was made of metal...and being closed in what would basically be a unventilated green house - that is probably in bad shape as well.

If it was driven in Illinois at any point, you might have to load it on the trailer in parts...

I live in Dallas. I might be interested in the engine. Let me know.

                          Thanks

If you sell the engine to Chuck, send me some pictures of the remainder. I'd be interested in a "CHEAP" Avanti.

In Fact, even if you don't sell the engine, get me some pix. I'd like to pit another one on the road.

                              sorry,
I was on my way in my truck with jacks, jack stands, and other equipment to prep the Avanti to be moved after I bought it. I got a call enroute that it would not be sold. The owner's daughter wants it, as it was Grandfather's and been in the family since the '60s. She has a lot of work, unmoved and in the sun for 25 years.
