  • Mc Culloch buying and service???

    Hello!

If I wanted to buy a Mc culloch supercharger for my "53 souped up Stude project", what should I especially look out for/ beware of?
There's a VS 57(I believe - will find out for sure soon) for sale now.

If I buy one that looks a bit worn, is there any place in the US I could send it to get it checked/servised before I get it shipped home to Norway..?

    Thanks.

Also be aware that it will have to be put on the side of the engine not on top, for hood clearance.

            By the way:

The supercharger for sale has "QVS 57 G9314" stamped on it.
That sounds like a VS 57, right?

I know Jon Myer also rebuilds the McCulloch and Paxton Superchargers I have watched him do both. He has purchased a large run of the Planetary Drive Balls from a NASA manufacturer that were machined to within + or - 100,000th of a inch, IIRC. He is in OHIO and an adviser to the Studebaker Co-Operator.

                    Thank you

The more resources/knowledge of resourses the better:-)

I will send a PM or a mail to one or two of the above mentioned. Sounds like a couple of "right guys" for the job, so I have good faith in the further progress, now.

Thanks again, to all of you.
What should we do without this forum? It is probably a good help for all SDC'ers, but I personally believe the forum is also a great "means"/help regarding the recruiting of new and also young members to the club.
The best classic car community in the world, by far! I'll put money on it![8D]

Hi Ralph, Good luck on your project. You might want to
visit the Kaiser Bill site. As I remember he has good info on both overdrives and superchargers. Take a look.
