  • Superlark ?

Firstly I must apologize for any misstakes I'm going to make, but I'm new at this.Do'nt quite know how to drive this computer yet.
We have acquired a 63 "superlark" that was raced[ circuit ]in S.A. in and around 64/65 .What I am trying to obtain so far is a few pics or info on this " R4-304cu.in,twin 4bbl carbs, not force fed ".
Double headlamps, with AVANTI badges on the 2 front fenders?
Now what I can pick up from the photos on your website,is that a Lark and an Avanti are two different cars? Do we just have a mongrel or is this correct?

The R4 was a option on the lark, but only one was built and is accounted for. Many folks added the R4 engine after Studebaker went out of business. If you can provide the VIN number and engine number, we can tell you more.

The Lark was a small 2-4 door sedan.
The Avanti was a 4 seat 2-door coupe with a fiberglass body...but based on an upgraded Lark frame. All had V-8 engines.

If the car has an original R4 engine it should look like this:

By the way, what are your plans for this car?

Thanks very much David for the pic of the R4 engine, and yes although its in a hundred pieces[nowhere as neat as yours]it looks as though I got just about all the same bits and pieces, including 7 domed pistons. The car has a racing history here in S.A.and we intend to restore it to its former glory,as it was raced back then. You see its a left hand drive, so it must have come from o/seas somewhere originally. All the local people in the know recall the car but no-one can elaborate or help with any pics or info on how the car actually fared. But thanks for the pic once again.
