  • 41 1/2 ton P/U overdrive

    I have a fello who has a 41 P/U floor shift 3 spd.with no overdrive
He complains of 40-45 mph.top end speeds & wants to put in overdrive.
I would like to know if that trans is available & if anybody has one
or knows where one is available.I suggested a rear end change but he
wants to go the O/D trans route. He does not have a computer so I will pass along any advice given. Thanks

I would change the rearend if the gears are lower than 3.54. He's probably got 4.88 in there.

Been there, done that. Easiest and most reliable solution for him is to contact Gerry Kurtz in Lancaster, PA. He has floorshift overdrive transmissions that fit the Champ 6 engine. Your friend will need to have a new driveshaft made or cut and weld the old one. I'll email you his phone number in a private message.

My M5 will now cruise comfortably at 60-65 mph with the overdrive. It will go faster - but I won't!
