  • Hood springs on 1950 Champion

Since I have to use the "prop" rod to hold the hood up on my 50, what is the purpose of the springs on the hinges? Probably a dumb question but, I would like to know the answer.

I have never had hood springs on my 48. And never had a problem. I bought some new springs but they were to strong and wasn't made like the old one that came off the car. So I just left them off. There was only one on the car when I got it.

On some models, they're there so you don't have to pull forward on the hood to open it. The springs do that work for you.
